2 Recipes for Curing New Year’s Day Hangovers

Abstaining from alcohol is, without a doubt, the best way to avoid the symptoms of hangover and overindulgence. That said, the following recipes of hangover cures will help soothe the savage beast that is your head and stomach. …And here’s how to KEEP all those New Year’s Resolutions you’re swearing to in your misery.

Did You Know?

Milk-based foods and drinks are beneficial before you consume alcoholic beverages, as they help coat the lining of the stomach. Nevertheless, they can also contribute to feelings of nausea if ingested during a hangover.

1) Low-Fat Strawberry Banana Smoothie

Bananas are considered an alkaline fruit; they help balance your body’s pH levels, which become out of whack after a night of binge drinking. Studies also show that strawberries help protect your stomach from the damaging effects of alcohol. If you’re searching for hangover cures, a strawberry banana smoothie like this one goes down gently.

2) Speedy Ginger-Chicken Soup Bowls

The ginger in this recipe helps settle the stomach and alleviate nausea; the chicken provides much-needed protein; and the broth helps restore potassium and salt (and encourages your body to sweat out the alcohol).

To Prepare
3/4 cup instant white rice, uncooked
4 tsp. minced gingerroot or 1 tsp. ground ginger
1 cup OSCAR MAYER Deli Fresh Oven Roasted Chicken Breast
2 cups mixed thin red pepper, carrot and green onion slices
2 cups chicken broth

Top each with 1/4 cup chicken and 1/2 cup of the vegetables; stir until well blended.
Add 1/2 cup each broth and water to each bowl; cover with microwave-safe plastic wrap. Microwave on HIGH 2 minutes. Let stand 5 minutes before serving.

I’ve been telling ppolee for years that a big greasy bacon filled brekkie’ is a definite hangover cure, the only problem of course is holding it down long enough to let it take its course! I mean some hangovers will allow you to eat and others keep you on the throne for 2 days straight so yah wait until you can properly digest it! Excellent article all round!
